Blood Pressure Monitoring Recommended for Kidney Cancer Patients Treated with Nexavar® (02/06/2008)
Recent research indicates that patients diagnosed with kidney cancer who are treated with targeted agent Nexavar® (sorafenib) are at an increased risk of developing hypertension (high blood pressure).  In order to prevent potential cardiovascular complications, such individuals should have their blood pressure monitored. These results were reported in Lancet Oncology.

Less Extensive Surgery May Benefit Younger Patients with Small Renal Tumors (01/14/2008)
Among patients under the age of 65 with small, localized renal tumors, radical nephrectomy may result in worse overall survival than partial nephrectomy. These results were published in The Journal of Urology.

Avastin® Improves Progression-free Survival in Metastatic Kidney Cancer (01/02/2008)
According to the results of a Phase III clinical trial published in The Lancet, the combination of Avastin® (bevacizumab) with interferon results in significantly better progression-free survival than interferon alone in the initial treatment of metastatic kidney cancer. These results were previously presented at the 2007 annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
