Lung Cancer Information Center

A new or recurrent diagnosis of lung cancer often results in fear and confusion for patients and their family members. Understanding treatment options, accessing new and innovative therapies through clinical trials, as well as understanding the role of supportive care and complementary and alternative medicine are essential. Cancer screening, genetic testing and prevention are equally relevant to all individuals, especially those related to someone diagnosed with cancer.

These benefits will likely expand across the lifespan, through reductions in sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), ear infections, and respiratory problems in infants and children and reductions in cancer and heart disease in adults.

Differences in IMRT Radiation Doses May Complicate Study Results in Lung Cancer (03/28/2008)
Differences between the prescribed dose of radiation in intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and the dose that’s actually delivered may make comparison studies in lung cancer difficult to interpret. These findings were reported in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

High Intake of Vegetables and Fruit Reduces Risk of Lung Cancer (02/22/2007)
According to an article recently published in the Annals of Oncology, a high intake of vegetables and fruit drastically reduces the risk of lung cancer. The reduced risk is particularly evident in smokers but is also apparent in non-smokers.
